Soundbites were formed in March 2013. Two years previously Gavin, Damian and Tim had got together with BBC radio presenter Graham Mac to form the Graham Mac Rock Band. After nearly two years togther GMRB (as they became known) had helped to raise nearly £30,000 for good causes and local charities.
During those two years GMRB were fortunate to play many great gigs with some pretty famous bands, including supporting the Commitments,Lightning Seeds, Top Loader and Mick Ralphs (formerly of Mott the Hoople and Bad Company). For Gavin the highlght of these years was the chance to play with Scott Gorham from Thin Lizzy when Lizzy performed at the Mecca in Swindon. For a lifelong Lizzy fan this was some gig.
After Graham moved away from Swindon, the remaining three were determined to carry on and began a hunt for a new lead singer. By chance GMRB had previously supported Steve Grimmett's Grim Reaper at the world famous Riffs Bar.
Gavin remembers being blown away by Steve's powerful voice. "It was like have Paul Rogers singing at you" , he recalls.
Through a mutual friend (Alan Holmes from Holmes Music, Swindon), Gavin asked if there was any chance Steve might be interested in playing for a charity rock band in addition to Reaper. As luck would have it, Steve also lived in Swindon and was keen to give something back. Well that was it, Soundbites were formed. Since that momernt they have played many gigs together to packed houses.
To expand their repertoire the band were keen to recuit a keyboad player. As regulars at Riffs Bar they need have looked no further than the landlady and co-owner of Riffs Bar, Tiggy York. A multi-talented artist, musician and singer, Tiggy became the fifth member of Soundbites.
